Aristides Varouchas was born in Crete. He was the brother of Themistocles Varouchas and the son of Georgios Varouchas both of them notable artists.
He spent much of his life in Rome. In 1907 he was awarded the Gold Cross by the Italian government.
He participated in the prestigious exhibition of Olympia in 1888 with four works and was a member of the group ‘Εταιρεία Φιλοτέχνων’.
His work can be found in The National Gallery of Greece, The Koutlides Collection and other public and private collections.
